Welcome to the SCRAPS Blog!!

Welcome to the SCRAPS blog!! As I mentioned in the brief to this page one of the major goals of having this blog is to provide a more interactive way to update the students of the Monarch Institute for Neurological Differences‘ Transition Services on our work here in Kenya. We try to have weekly Skype calls to discuss wildlife, life in Kenya, and for me, life back in Texas! However, some weeks we miss one another due to fieldwork or traveling and thus hopefully the blog will provide a nice forum for continuing our conversations about the SCRAPS project when we are away from the Internet. The above picture is from our visit to Monarch in Dec 2015 where we had an AMAZING time talking about all things Africa, especially small carnivores 🙂

Of course a second objective of this blog is to provide information on small carnivores in general and the SCRAPS project in particular. However, as a naturalist, I promise to post cool things about all things nature from Kenya, not just the small carnivores. Cultural tidbits that I think might generate some interest (e.g. wood carvings of minion characters) will also occasionally be shared.

Finally, this blog is not for me but for everyone interested in the SCRAPS project or wildlife or whatever, so please feel free to make suggestions about new post ideas and comment as much as you like!

Here we go 🙂
